The honest story

This website takes a closer look at a controversial adolescent substance abuse treatment facility that existed in west Texas during the late 1980s.  KIDS of El Paso existed during the Reagan Administration when the war on drugs was of paramount importance in this country.  Thousands of desperate parents of troubled teens turned to KIDS and similar rehabilitation programs that advertised high success rates and positive results.  Close to three hundred teens were enrolled in the KIDS of El Paso program.  The methods of rehabilitation used was controversial, some say illegal.
Then
Now
The high correlation between suicide and former program teens is unfortunate and well documented. This site is informational in nature and is not intended to be therapeutic. If you have thoughts of suicide please seek immediate local professional help or contact 1-800-SUICIDE.
