The rise and fall of the KIDS of El Paso program, along with the enduring struggles of those involved, is a story that must be told. It weaves together a series of compelling tales—a serial killer, an heiress, a megalomaniac, multiple suicides, state senators, prominent attorneys, and even the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The narrative delves into a web of disturbing events, including false imprisonment, brainwashing, child abuse, molestation, and much more. At its heart, however, this story is about the resilience of the human spirit. It highlights the success of former KIDS, now adults with children and grandchildren of their own, who have triumphed despite being kidnapped from society and subjected to horrendous maltreatment in a West Texas warehouse during the most formative years of their lives.
My goal is to bring this captivating story to a film hosted on a major streaming platform, making it accessible to audiences nationwide. During the development phase, I plan to acquire the necessary film equipment to interview a wide range of participants, including former program teens, staff members, attorneys, family members, and others who have agreed to participate in this important project.
Cinematic film production is a significant financial endeavor. Once the film moves beyond development, I plan to meet with financiers, pitch the project to potential investors, and explore traditional funding avenues for independent filmmakers. I will then enter the production phase in a collaborative partnership with a seasoned documentarian with a proven track record of successful films featured on Netflix and other leading streaming platforms.
After the film's production, the focus will shift to marketing, promotion, and theatrical distribution. Upon the film's release, a long-overdue KIDS of El Paso reunion will be planned for the premiere and launch party.
